Can visitors go inside the National Mosque in Abuja?
Yes, according to visitor guides. Non-Muslim visitors can usually enter the Nigerian National Mosque outside congregational prayer times, and entry is reported to be free. Dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, and women should bring a headscarf. The mosque stands on Independence Avenue, directly opposite the National Christian Centre.
The gold dome and four minarets are visible across much of the Central Area. The mosque and the National Christian Centre facing each other across the road are one of the most photographed scenes in Abuja. Entry to the Christian Centre is also reported to be free.
Can you visit Aso Rock?
You can see Aso Rock, but you can't walk up to it. The granite rock rises about 400 metres above the surrounding land, with a peak about 936 metres above sea level. The Presidential Complex, National Assembly and Supreme Court sit around it, so view it from public roads and don't photograph security sites.
How much is Millennium Park in Abuja?
Recent visitor guides list Millennium Park's entry at about ₦200 for adults and ₦100 for children, and say it closes around 6 pm. It is Abuja's largest park, in Maitama, with shaded paths, lawns and water features, and was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003. Confirm fees and hours on the day.
What is there to see at the National Museum Abuja?
The National Museum in Abuja's Central Area holds ethnographic and archaeological collections from across Nigeria, including Nok terracotta and Benin works, according to visitor guides. A recent guide lists entry at about ₦500, and photography may cost extra. Opening days aren't published online consistently, so confirm before you travel across town.
Is Jabi Lake free to visit?
Yes. Walking around Jabi Lake is free, and boat rides from the jetty cost extra. Late afternoon is the most pleasant time to go. Jabi Lake Mall is right next to the lake, so you can combine a waterside walk with food, shopping or a film. It suits families and a relaxed half-day.

Where can you go hiking near Abuja?
Several hills around Abuja are popular with local hiking groups, and partner sites list short guided hikes. One example is a guided Wonderland Mountain hike with a Nigerian breakfast, from $95 (checked Oct 21, 2026). Go early to avoid the midday heat, wear shoes with grip and carry plenty of water.

The Lower Usuma Dam, about 26 km from the city centre along the Dutse–Bwari road, is another scenic outing. It supplies much of Abuja's water, so respect restricted areas and signs.
Where can you buy souvenirs in Abuja?
The Arts and Crafts Village is the best-known place in Abuja to buy souvenirs. It is an open-air market for carvings, beads, fabrics, bronze work and paintings, and entry is free. Expect to bargain, compare a few stalls before buying, and keep your bag close in busy areas.
What food should you try in Abuja?
Try suya, the spicy grilled meat sold from evening stalls across Abuja, along with jollof rice, pepper soup and other local dishes. Wuse 2 has many of the city's best-known restaurants. For a guided taste, partner sites list a street food and cultural experience from $130 (checked Oct 21, 2026).
