David Palacios' exhibition opens at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.
“Track Changes” will show a selection of works from his project Art Report (2011-2014).
David Palacios' latest exhibition, “Track Changes”, opens at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. Kicking off with an opening reception on Thursday, May 22nd from 6 to 8 pm, this is a contemporary mixed media art exhibition. Originally Cuban, Palacios currently lives and works between the cities of London (UK) and Abuja (Nigeria).
The exhibition “Track Changes” gathers David Palacios' ideas developed since 2011 as part of his project “Art Report“ in which he juxtaposes art codes with statistical information and news. The exhibitincludes graphics-paintings, digital prints, installations, book-objects and videos that take a critical look at models of representation of the information industry using visual news agency mechanisms.
Palacios takes as a reference issues on the global and Nigerian agenda such as the global economy, international investment, oil prices, military spend, social issues and poverty levels and presents them with an interdisciplinary approach, in works that at first glance seem innocuous graphics and reports.
Over the last few years, the artist has been using his works to illustrate information on social, political and economic issues, and also as a tool for self-reflexion on the limits of representation.
